So let me start with my excitement I had prior. I was so hyped to go to Knight when they said I would get a route that I wanted. The pay seemed decent, and the schedule seemed good. While many will think I’m a p*ssy in this sub for not agreeing to spend 30 days out I am not willing to make that sacrifice (besides training). They said 3-5 days out maybe 7 and rarely above that with a route from socal to vegas. Now the problems started, the interview was less so an interview but an orientation. So so whatever, another guy was with me and we started talking about my route. The manager said “well depends on what we need, flexibility” the other candidate who was very shy spoke up and was like “why are you guys lying on your website and recruiters lying” he was experienced and was promised a steady route but then was told “Well depends on where we need drivers” but the guy i was with made it very clear quickly he was only gonna do 3-5days but before he was an experienced local driver. If it couldn’t get any more awkward, the manager started saying i was smart by being flexible. I was not saying anything at all i was just not arguing, but i agreed with what the other candidate said. We didn’t sign up for otr. Now the WORST part, a man came into the room we were in and quit in front of US while we were eating food. Me and the other asked him at the bottom of the stairs at the facility why, and basically said he was earning way lower than he was told and didn’t get a 3-5 day route but a 2 week route. It became horribly awkward after like literally the worst most horrible awkwardness. The manager seemed to talk for 2 hrs about how if you work hard, you’d earn a lot he just wasn’t a yes man and didn’t work hard. While that might be true it still is from a source of wanting to earn money from you. Not judging knight drivers, it was just really damn shady and uncomfortable.
