I was taught to always use the right-most lane unless otherwise posted or you know the intersection. This is because it leaves your sight side open if you do need to take extra space. If you use any other lane you can’t see what’s going on next to your trailer if you’re cutting into the other lane, increasing the risk of a collision. It seems though that a large portion, perhaps even most other drivers, don’t do this, especially on right turns.
