Whats the proper way to deal with oversized loads taking up 2 lanes?

I was on i85 in NC just cruising in the slow lane doing 68 in a 70. I could see in the distance a oversized load catching up to me. Eventually he got on my ass and stayed there like he wanted me to drive on the shoulder or get over 3 lanes into the fast lane so he could get past me. He had 2 escorts and neither one blocked the fast lane so he could get over. I just stayed in my lane and he was sniffing my ass the whole way until his exit. Am I suppose to move over??
