What is the process if you go and get diagnosed for sleep apnea?

I’m considering getting tested but I’m wondering what the process is like. From what i see online it says if youre not getting treated for sleep apnea and you got diagnosed for it then you cant drive. So what, is it like i get diagnosed with sleep apnea and I can’t work until i get my machine to get treatment? How much down time am i looking at? I’m worried ill be out of work for like a week or more and I can’t afford that atm. I’m based in illinois if that matters. Thanks
