Hello everyone. I’m currently a yard spotter/jockey for H-E-B. Before I move a trailer, I always do a pre-trip to see any damages and I always check the locking jaws and kingpin. I even do tug tests before and after connecting the lines.
What are the chances of fifth wheel malfunctions on a yard truck/mule? Or trailer dropping while driving even though the locking jaws are wrapped around kingpin? I’m told in training once it’s wrapped around the kingpin it’s LOCKED. I’m just curious because I think I may have a healthy fear……
