Hi everyone! I want to work in the USA as a truck driver. Now I’m working as an international truck driver in Estonian logistic company, driving around Scandinavia and all is good.. except one “but”: now due political situation I can’t extend my working visa – unfortunately I’m russian. Maybe somebody know what a situation in the States? I think I need a guarantee or a job offer from an American employer or all at once, is there such a practice in relation to russians at the moment? How to find a company that interested in this case? I have profiles in “indeed” and LinkedIn, but I didn’t find offers with guarantee or for emigrant (potential?). So many questions… Help me please 😅
Little bit about me (what if such employers are reading this right now):
I’m a high skilled international truck driver from Russia. My career as truck driver started (and it was started because I really want to emigrate with this position) in 2019 when I delivered first parcel from big marketplace – I was local driver on van, sometimes worked as courier but also in local and regional delivery.
After two years on this position I was update my driver license and got ADR license for dangerous goods and tankers (that’s same as hazmat I think). Next year was as hard as possible – in December 2020 I went to the northern Siberia for working on straight truck with 33000lb tanker with tasks for refueling gold mining quarry technic. I learned to work to the limit of my capabilities and expanded these limits: working outdoors at temperatures around -60°C, working on a broken truck in a quarry in off-road and rocky conditions, not being provided with basic things and living conditions… Quit after 4 months working because it was as dangerous as possible: very old and somewhere crashed technic (I was worked without air in system few weeks until I fixed it myself with garbage), zero living conditions, radiation, no days off, etc. Felt like a character of King’s Desperation. In April 2021 I went to Sakhalin for working at same position but on oil pipeline construction site. In this job I took much more experience in off-road and raised as driver with all road and weather conditions. I got: skills in self repairing of truck, psychic and clothes :D, survival skills, raised my multitasking, patience and attention, though me how to act in case of meeting with a bear and more useful things (I can make a post about it too, that’s interesting part of my life). Quit because I upped my driver license to first class and got the current job as an international truck driver on Scandinavian routes.
Now I have:
✓ a perfect driving skills (sure I’m a native driver, because driving since I’m 11 as a carting pilot 🤭),
✓nice technical skills and possibility to understanding of technic’s work,
✓ very good health condition (I think I’m at my peak),
✓ high self-motivation (for as long as I remember),
✓ never stop learning and developing myself.
I can attribute to the minuses:
× I am russian and I only have a Russian residence permit,
× my level of English does not reach the “good” mark (but I am studying right now and I will be very grateful to those who have read up to this point and correct me, I will try to remember how to speak better🙌)
× sometimes I’m ill of perfectionism and working may slow down
Family situation: I have a wife and dog. They wants to emigrate too 😅
