What are good companies for new drivers (otr/mega)

I drive local for an ltl a close friend of mine drive local for another ltl. His father in law is.talking to recruiters about becoming an otr driver. He has talked to several and we trying to steer him in the right direction so he doesn’t get one of these horror story companies. He doesn’t have his cdl but is like a 30-40 year us army veteran. A company is he currently talking to is offering 33cpm while training. 65 cpm after he gets his cdl. 85 cpm 6 months after he is solo otr when he will be “mentor” status. This company is crst. Is this real pay? Also what are good otr companies in general that will train? Neither me nor my friend have been anything but local and all we really know is “not swift”
