Hell honestly anything after 50 hours should pay higher cpm/hourly if you get that.
In most of the workforce you’d rarely get to 40 hours let alone 10 of overtime.
Some industries like medical or law enforcement you have a higher chance of it but still. Very few jobs require let alone want you there past 40 hours. With us it’s just expected. Don’t complain kinda bs.
This week I worked 64 hours. My dispatch still wanted me to drive another 4. I didn’t want to chance it since safety’s on my ass about going over 15 mins on my clock the other day thanks to getting stuck at the rail yard. That and I’m mentally burnt. I drove technically 6 days this week. Started Friday morning last week and took a 34 early Tuesday morning and drove Wednesday. Had to swap my sleep schedule to make the shit work and I feel like crap cus of it.
Then my dispatch asks if I want to work Saturday and Sunday since I can’t today.
I’m grateful for the work being offered cus there’s been some slow weeks but my body and mind are beat. Last night I got drunk af to celebrate 3 days off and I’m gonna see my parents for the first time in like a month. No I don’t want to fucking work any day more than I need. I’m not paid extra. All I lose is my time and time with others.
It’s not healthy to make us do this and then guilt us with the we need the help talk or please can you begging. 50 hours behind the wheel is annoying enough. Anything over that starts pushing my buttons.
