Wanting to leave Fire/EMS be a driver

So as the title states, I have been wanting to leave my job with the fire service to be a CDL driver. I’ve been in my line of work for over 10 years, and I just can’t stand my work anymore, between the terrible pay, demanding schedule with forced overtime always, not to mention the stuff we see all the time, as well as terrible leadership from incompetent people. How is life really at a local/regional trucking job? I’ve been doing lots of research but I don’t know anyone who drives simi.
