I drive a school bus now, and I would like to upgrade my Class B to a Class A, and try out the Trucking life for a couple years. I’ve done some research, but have not yet spoken to an actual recruiter.
I know there are a couple of CDL schools in my area that will do that, but of course they want money first, so I have been looking at Swift, Maverick and Prime. I’d like to get home weekends and would prefer to drive mostly during the day; I’m an old fart and set in my ways.
So, finally, the question: Are there any companies who would upgrade my license, train me, and allow me to pay for the trading with bigger payments and a shorter contract? Like I said, I’m and old fart already, and I worry that I might not like it. I don’t want to be stuck for two years.
