My brother, 28, is disabled but capable of driving – he drives his 2 kids to/from school & activities daily. He has been trying to get started in trucking for a while. He has his doctor’s consent and now (I’m sorry, I don’t know the technical words) has to prove to an official that he is capable of driving.
He needs access to a truck & trailer for a couple hours. He would drive with cones to practice straight backing & alley docking (his words). He then would have a 30 minute road test. He said the longest part would be the pre-trip/go around checking the truck verbally for the official.
I’m posting this, because he needs to find a truck he can use for this test. He lives in the North East Kansas area.
He is an amazing father & so selfless and tries his best. He has to walk with a cane, but generally has good control of all legs & arms.
He started his career in the Air Force right after high school until his accident that left him disabled. He has struggled to figure out his new career path & how to provide for his kids. Now he is determined trucking is his new calling. I’m so proud of him and it would be amazing if anyone here could point me in a good direction to help him. If anyone has something in mind kindly let me know. I also don’t mind paying.
edit: he has his CDL. He just needs to find a semi. He has children and can’t spend hundreds on renting.
