Hey Everyone, My brother is wanting to be a Truck Driver, and jumped the gun and already put in his two weeks notice.
I am trying to help him hit the ground running and avoid any traps. We live in the Kansas City Kansas area, and are trying to find him a trucking school/job to get him going. He used to drive school busses a while back, so he’s used to big vehicles at least.
I was wondering if anyone had experiences positive or negative relating to Apex CDL, C1 Truck Driver Training, or 160 Driving Academy or have a better recommendation in the region.
Some companies are offering hire/training, (I presume with some sort of contract to work X years.) I’m not sure if these are a bad or a good idea to get into trucking. He also aiming for “Short haul?” Or Home every night or other night. Not sure if that is reasonable for a new trucker these days.
Any help and or advice would be much appreciated.
(I work in the IT sector, so I’m at a total loss for helping my brother here.)
