I took on a new company and I been here for 5 months hauling hazmat tanker OTR. This company promised me I’d be driving X amount of miles a week and be making X amount of dollars. That has been far from the truth. I been getting these short runs and only 2-3 loads a week. Since I started running for them.
On average, I been grossing $600-$1000/week. Most I ever grossed in a week was $1600. That was when I first started. After that, it’s been in the toilet. I talked to my TM and he just says it’s been slow and they haven’t been getting too many calls to move freight. Granted, my company is a fairly large company, I’m not driving for a mega carrier. I’m usually out for 5-7weeks before I go home.
I’m drowning financially, it got to a point where my wife is having to zelle me money every week just so I can cover my personal expenses as well as pay the house bills.
Everyone says to just find a new company but I’m honestly scared to get screwed over again by a new company. I applied to Loves and the recruiter told me experience doesn’t mean anything if I can’t show loyalty and to stick with a company for a few years then reapply.
I also hate job hopping. This is my 3rd company within this year.
Company 1: 1.5yrs, mega carrier
Company 2: 4 months, left because I hated teaming. Good pay was taking home on average $1400/week.
Company 3: 5 months, current company.
