I can’t afford to leave work to go to class. I would prefer to be an owner operator and not leave a company after only working there long enough for a contract. I don’t like job hopping.
I currently make 25k after a recent pay increase and am 29 with no wrecks and I have some medications I’ll need to see if block me from driving. But I’m checking that with a pharmacist tomorrow.
My question is should I try to start as an owner operator and see if I can get grants for the school and trying to get a loan for a truck? I would need to get insurance whole I’m not working.
I have a trucking friend who said he’d help me learn to find loads and all that.
I don’t have a credit history I’ve never gotten a loan before or taken a credit card. I don’t know what’s a good rate for starting a owner operator trucking business.
Im in central texas if that’s relevant.
I wish I could join my friends company but his insurance requires 2 years experience.
