In an industry where anything can happen at any time, you need to learn to come to acceptance and just keep moving forward. I have been trucking for over a year ever since May. My first truck was a 2019 kenworth that I got (as a company driver) with just under 260k miles. I ran that thing until about 380k miles with minimal issues or down time up until 3 weeks ago when I had a major coolant leak. The leak led to an inspection which led to them discovering an air leak which led to me needing a part that was on national back order. It is what it is.
So I sat In Houston, TX at a hotel for 2 full weeks until my dispatcher broke the news that they couldn’t find a part and we will get me a new truck. It is what it is.
“We got you a brand new Kenworth with only 29k miles on it and we are renting you a car yo drive from Houston to Tampa, FL to pick it up”
It is what it is.
I drive to FL and pick it up on a Thursday afternoon and it’s in great shape and CLEAN, but it has the previous drivers stuff in it. So I load my stuff into it, drive it 20 miles to our terminal and the service men help me load his stuff into storage. That being done its time to rest and get back started Friday morning….Florida had other plans and we can’t find me a load until Monday. It is what it is.
And that leads to today, I’m finally moving from Ocala, FL to Macon GA with a run I don’t usually do and the truck decides it’s time to go into derate mode just outside of Macon, GA. It is what it is.
Such is the life of a trucker, things can go great until they don’t and it is what it is. Have a good day everyone and be safe!
