Man, this is my first go around with an emission truck + a short throw 18 spd Eaton. Is it just me or is splitting and catching the next gear on the low end just finicky as fuck? We haul 60 or 100k gross locally here in western WA. First time since learning stick where I’m getting pissed tf off about not being able to catch the next gear from a split from a dead stop going up hill. Normal throw pre-emission and emission trucks, I could do it all going up hill. First time in my 3-4 year career I lost a gear 3 times in one day from a stand still going up hill. Not sure if it’s this truck and the tranny’s taken a beating prior to me getting it or what. 200k miles of local dump trucking doesn’t sound like the easiest 200k miles a truck can spend.
I’m still learning the truck, but man does it get aggravating.
