I’m 27M Texas, I work for a distribution warehouse that is paying for my schooling and training to obtain my CDL with hazmat, tankers, doubles/triples, manual transmission endorsements.
Pay is as follows:
Driver under 1 year $60K
Driver 1 year $65K
Driver 2 years $71K
I know there are other driving jobs paying more, but I don’t think this is bad for no experience. I’m thinking big picture, so my question is has having your CDL opened the door for bigger opportunities that aren’t even driving positions? My supervisor apparently had a job as railroad conductor just by having CDL, and I hear you may be able to land a job as crane operator by having it. Any first hand experience with situations like that? Any other input or advice would be much appreciated.
