I cross from Canada into the US about 40 times a year.
I haul granite grave foundations or similar granite products.
Here’s the thing: granite from the Canadian Shield is radioactive, as it contains trace amounts of uranium.
So my load would always set off the radiological alarm and the border agents would have to come out with this handheld scanner and I would have to go through a secondary supervised scan.
Slow pain in the ass for everyone.
Then one day an agent tells me “drive through faster”
So I started aggressively driving through the scanner, and hurray! my load no longer trips the alarm.
So, yay, getting advice from border security on how to bypass border security .
