So some context before I start,; I’m a Canadian OTR driver with about 9 years of experience. With that said, some of the rules and protections may differ from my US brothers and sisters.
70cpm is what they were advertising, in actuality, it was 61.5cpm. But to get the 70 you needed to hit 14k miles, however no one seems to get it… shocking. The closer you got, the less time on the road until the next month.
They decided to limit the speed of the trucks to 65mph, thus reducing the mileage you can make.
Ok fine..
But the thing that put me over the line was that you never got paid on time. 1st and 15th, however it could be anytime between 3 to 5 business days for “processing “. This was confirmed after I had complained about it. Seriously, you can’t pay your bills on time, nor could you secure financing based on loose payments.
Yes I put up with it for 3+ months.
They are all over you about the paperwork for proof of delivery so they can get paid… but f the driver.
They are definitely making bank, since their office staff drive high end vehicles… and confirmed by clients who complained about how expensive “we are”.
To add to all of this they would run me constantly into violations in Canada, you need 24hrs off in a 14 day period. So do my runs in the US, violations upon crossing the border, they didn’t care, because they would hope to return to the US quickly.
I have no violations against my cdl, never have. So this bothered me.
So, upon being unwilling to move for them this time around, I slept on it.
Upon waking, I said f it, talked to the wife and headed to Edmonton, where they have a secure yard, dropped the truck, trailer, removed my personal effects and wished them well.
The entire time I was heading to Edmonton, they were accusing me of joy riding and abandoned equipment.
I’m from that area, but then they wanted me to go to Surrey BC… so I’m guessing to abandon me there.
I know not offering 2wks notice is rather unprofessional, but I hope you can see it from my perspective.
They have lost 15 drivers in the past 2 months, i wonder why…
I won’t name drop them, but Wiley Coyote buys their products ????.
