Recently failed a pre-employment drug test. I’ll start by taking responsibility. For more context:
I was away from trucking for over a year. I live in WA state. While AWAY from trucking, I smoked weed but quit on Valentines Day (specifically with a return to trucking in mind). Bought some at-home tests and passed each of those once May rolled around. By the time of my urine test, I had been clean 107 days, and I failed.
I know, I could have waited longer, but who tf would expect to fail after 100 days AND multiple passed @home tests for a full month leading up to it?
Now, all I’ve read since failing is how it’s extremely difficult to find a CDL job once you’re marked. I’m trying to determine if it’s even worth going through the RTD process. I know ultimately, the result falls on me, but I do hate how I am now disqualified from driving (despite a perfect record, no accidents / tickets / violations otherwise), and it’s for something that I did *when I wasn’t even a truck driver*.
So, now I go back to the cubicle, but can anyone share their return to duty process / experience? Mostly curious about time frame to completion (I know it varies), and time it took you to find another driving position thereafter.
