Relocating… advice, stories.

(Trucker’s wife here!) Currently in Florida.

Husband works OTR for a smallish company that pays really well. But he’s literally never home. Gone for 5 weeks and home for 5 days. It’s taking a mental toll. We have two toddlers that I’m caring for alone day in and day out. The problem is, FLORIDA PAYS LOCAL DRIVERS ABSOLUTE DOGS**T!!!! About $16-$20 an hour. We wouldn’t even be able to afford our rent working at that rate and we live in a fairly affordable place. I see the Midwest pays local drivers a very good and more importantly, livable wage. Have any of you ever relocated to find better work? How did it go? We would be leaving family and “everything” behind to get up and start new, but at least I’d have my family together again.
