Hey y’all. I got my CDL-A back in July but haven’t gotten any tractor trailer experience yet. Currently I drive a concrete mixer, and I really really hate my job.
No schedule, I don’t even know when I’m working the next day till 8pm the night before. Never know when I’m getting off either. I’m doing between 20-60 hours a week depending on the weather. Don’t get paid enough for that bull crap.
No family, nothing holding me down here at home.
Figured I would give OTR a shot because why not.
What kind of companies hire A holders with no tractor trailer experience?
What companies should I 100% avoid.
My only “needs” are being able to bring the truck back on my home time, and a good training program.
Any thing you can tell me about the life? Or things I need to know before I commit?
I figured I would put 1 year in at a mega and learn the industry with a good support network before I went out to smaller companies where I would have to figure out the hard stuff my self.
Thoughts ?
