Little background. I’ve worked as a mover for the past 4 years. I’ve been a small company’s only driver for that time and I run the operations side of things pretty much.
I’ve driven 30-40 loads out of Oregon through all the seasons and conditions.
As of now, I have my llc, ein and everything except my mc/dot. Just waiting to pull the trigger and get insurance($1,700 down payment). After the 21 days I’m active and there I go.
Im not dumb, I have a good head on my shoulders. Im 22, have a house and plan on building a company/future out of this(inter/intrastate). I know loads right now are low because high supply of drivers and that’s giving the brokers more leverage on costs. I don’t plan on pulling a lot my first couple years as some won’t even work with new MC #’s. I think grossing 4,500-7,000 a week isn’t impossible, I plan on running 3,000 miles a week. Only hiccup is I don’t have the business length to lease from a big company so I’d have to rent starting out. Enterprise is $1,000 a week plus .20c a mile. I’d figure paying $1600~ a week just for the truck, plus about $1500 in fuel(that’s with no fuel rewards or discounts that some contracts have offered I’ve seen). Insurance is 961 a month so add another $240~ so $3500 a week to run the truck. If I could pull bottom 5k a week, I think I’d do just fine. Zero maintenance, only need fuel and DEF.
My numbers are obviously subject to change but I wanted to hear from current box truck O/O if these are accurate-ish numbers.
I’ve seen contracts from MML Alliance saying 6-8k a week, others from green fright like 5-20k a week.
