As a 4-wheeler I always try to respect you guys and give you the space you need as well as allow a merge in construction or around on ramps. Not all of us are shitty. I don’t hover too long when passing, I have a strict no cell phone policy while I’m driving, unless I’m completely stopped construction zone, which I’ve been in way too many the past two weeks. If I may ask a few questions just so I have a better understanding of what to do in certain situations.
1. When I see a truck, especially a double duty, having issues keeping the straight and narrow on a 2 lane highway, what do I do? Do I pass? Do I fall back until it seems like they have it figured out? Right now I usually fall back, way back, and let them sort their shit unless it goes on for miles and I still have hours left of my trip. Then I find a good time to pass and floor it.
2. I recently did a trip through Connecticut, fuck that place, where construction was ruthless. I84. I would let trucks merge but I found when it was my time to merge I had to fight or almost get run over. (I also don’t try to race you guys to the construction zones hoping to get ahead of you.) I made the mistake of getting off at an exit before the backup because I needed gas and didn’t want to be the asshole that tan out of gas in the construction zone. When getting back on I assume everyone assumed I was trying to get around the backup and refused to let me in. Lucky enough I grew up driving around Pittsburgh and I found a hole. Is there a way I can signal that I am a friend not a foe? Or am I automatically a for because of the 4-wheeler status.
3. Is there any common things 4-wheeler do to piss you guys off that might seem like nothing to us or something we might overlook?
