I have been struggling with this dilemma for years. I am a year away from applying for the nursing program, and although I don’t doubt that being a nurse would provide everything I’m looking for in a career…trucking has been calling to me.
For context, I’m a 32 year old single female with no kids. I have zero desire to be in a relationship or have children. Stag for life.
I’ve worked in the medical field and I know nursing is an excellent fit for me. Three 12 hour shifts a week and job security with great benefits.
But I love being on the road, and I’ve heard some very appealing testimonies from truckers who I’ve met. There is a Love’s truck stop near my mom’s house and I pop in at least once every time I visit home. I’ve met some really cool people who have shared their experiences in the field and everything they describe makes my heart skip a beat.
I would love to hear from anyone who chose trucking over other careers and why. Also, how do you feel about trucking now that you’re in it?
