So i’m about to go out for my road test, was doing some road training, HazMat RR crossing was good, speed was good, signs were good, turns were good e.t.c.
I feel like i’m braking early enough, but by the time i’m coming up on the back of a car, specifically between 20mph to stop, it feels like I have to add even more brake pressure to stop the truck, like i’m really pushing down hard, it’s not a mashing of the brake, just continuous applied pressure that I have to ramp up, it almost becomes uncomfortable around my calf .
Tester was going to call me out on it when we got back to the range, but I caught it myself and noted it while we were on the road, that I felt like I was braking a little too hard towards the end of my stops.
Is there a sweet spot for riding airbrakes down from 45 to stop, besides just applying even earlier and holding the pressure?
Alternatively, how does braking differentiate between fully loaded vs unloaded? (besides the fact that unloaded takes longer to stop)
