I’ve always ran the big classic looking cbs with a built in swr meter and adjustment knob in my work trucks (think uniden pc68ltx, cobra 29 Ltd classic, etc)
But I just put a president bill in my ford ranger, because I commute 45min one way as it is and the other day I got stuck setting in a 2.5 hr shut down on the mountain due to a overturned tractor trailer with 4 wheelers involved as well, so I decided its time to put a cb in my personal truck cause if I had known the mtn was shut down I could have just hopped off and took a alternative route but instead I got stuck between 2 exits 8 miles apart with no where to go.
This president bill is a tiny little digital unit (which i liked since its just going in my pickup) but it doesn’t have any settings for swr, I have a old swr meter with a calibration knob that ive used in the past for setting up my other radios but ive always just used it to get a more accurate reading while setting up and then removed it. Is there any drawback to just leaving it installed inline since this radio doesn’t have adjustments that way I can dial it in with the calibration knob on the meter?
Sorry if its a dumb question as I kinda feel like it’s fine but just wanted to make sure it wouldn’t cause any issues, I posted on r/cbradio like 6hrs ago and hadn’t got any responses hence asking here. Other than just using one im not a cb setup expert by no means so would appreciate any advice and this particular radio would mostly just be for monitoring for traffic conditions and such.
