Driving a dump truck. Had a couple times where I’ve been loaded heavy, and I have to go drop a little off at the pile. I engage the power divider when I’m loaded in the loose sand. Later down the road I will notice my axles/diff oil will heat up to the red zone, and I have to stop every ten miles and let them cool.
While I’m waiting I flip the power divider switch and try to get them to disengage. I’ve tried lowering the bed hard to jar them loose, cranking the push axle. Trying to take pressure off or find the right recipe. Sometimes it works and I can drive like normal.
As soon as I unload it will stop, but it can make a 60 mile trip take 5 hours, plus thinking about damage and wear.
We’ve changed the diff oil, its definitely full. Had a magnet plug in to see if there is debrise. Checked axles, axle gaskets, and wheel seals. We just changed the power divider cylinder, and I was confident it would be fixed.
Nope, used power divider while loaded and it heated up until I unloaded.
If I dont use the power divider I’m good to go, loaded or not.
Here’s to hoping someones had this exact same problem. 06 Pete
