Hey there drivers,
I’m about to take a bite out of the shit sandwich and go big time OTR. All 48 states, on 4+ weeks, 1 week off. What tips and tricks ya got for maintaining a good quality of life? For the 3 years I’ve been driving, most of it has been 5-6 days on, 2-3 off, throughout the Midwest primarily.
Never had to chain, never done the Rockies (went through Appalachia a few times). Never used the truck stop laundry facilities, I just carried enough fresh clothes to have a new set every morning (dirty clothes go into laundry bin) and would wash used clothes at home at the end of the week.
Anyway, it all seems pretty straightforward but I know living out of the truck is nuanced, so I was curious if y’all have any advice earned through experience. Thanks in advance and be safe out there.
