I was merging onto the interstate using a very short, uphill on-ramp, and I came right up next to a semi truck to my left. There was at least one vehicle in the fast lane to the left of the truck, preventing them from switching lanes, so I floored it to get in front of the truck and merge onto the interstate. As I was switching lanes, the truck turned his lights off for a good 1-2 seconds before turning them back on. Was he upset because I did something wrong? Or was this a “thank you” for being aware and quickly maneuvering to get in front of him?
It surprised me and actually distracted me a bit because it was dark and he became nearly invisible when his lights turned off. I do my best to be polite and give truckers plenty of room on the road so I’m curious whether I did anything wrong in this scenario, I’ve never seen a trucker do this.
