So I work for Schneider National. I’ve been working for them for a little over 7 months now and this is my first winter trucking. My problem is I don’t have an APU and my converter doesn’t hold a charge for more than an hour. It’s 31 degrees right now in Kentucky and my truck won’t stay on. The temp gage says it’s 36 because of the engine heat but shouldn’t the damn thing stay on at this point?
It doesn’t idle under 71 degrees and apparently I still haven’t hit cold enough for it to idle either. I was told 40 degrees and below but I guess the shop guy either was wrong or lied.
I have a mini fridge with a freezer and it doesn’t stay on without the converter and like I said it only holds a charge for maybe an hour after driving all day.
I’ve been taping hand warmers to the mirror on the thermostat but it’s too cold at this point to get the temp read up to 71 for more than a couple hours.
I’m from south MS and I’m freezing my ass off in my bunk.
