So, I do want to prefice this by saying that I do have a criminal conviction history(2 felonies and a handful of misdemeanors) that spanned a period of 2 years, and ended 2 years ago if that makes sense. Basically, I still have 2 felonies that are only 2 years old. (I’m 23 years old)
My primary question I guess is, for OTR work if an employer/potential employer tells me that they would be paying, let’s just say for example 25 cents per mile… Is there any kind of reasonable/reliable way to translate this into a per hour wage? I understand that as a felon and new driver there’s a high likelihood I will have to accept less-than ideal jobs and wages at first, but I just want to be able to figure out how much I’ll be making at any particular company.
Also, if anyone has just advice in general that they would give to a new truck driver in terms of advice on how to figure out if a company is a good choice to work for. (I’m not overly concerned with home time or having a local job at this particular moment, I’m single with no kids & have been living in a state that’s not where I’m from for a number of years now, and until I move back to Florida I’m honestly not all that worried about being ‘home’ all that much atm, although I would like to be comfortable on my off-hours/off-days if away from home. What I’m really looking for though I think is what would pay the highest given my current circumstance & in general.)
Appreciate any input
