Just got my CDL-A, wondering if I should jump right into it for the experience and buy a truck in a few months/year. Or should I just wait out and work in my current career field and save money for a truck later.
Little background, I have been working in a decent career field albeit very stressful at times. I have decided to try my hand at possible becoming Owner/Operator in the future through CDL. Single no kids, so being OTR to start off should be ok for me. Schneider right now is the one I’m choosing over Western/ Werner. I have tried a bunch of others that might pay slightly more but they have all said no because of no experience.
I have some reserves and no debt, so my question is should I jump into whatever I can get for the sake of getting the experience? If I ever plan to purchase a truck, get an MC, put a driver in a truck. Does having the experience help that much more compared to no experience? In terms of insurance etc, is what I am thinking of mostly.
Open to suggestions, thanks in advance.
