I’m not a trucker but this is the only sub I’ve seen talking about this camera, so I hope it’s okay for me to post here.
I work for security company. And my job requires me to drive a security car around our property. They recently installed lytx cameras. And I believe it’s going to be company-wide. Across any site that requires a security car.
From what I understand it’s always recording but it only saves “events” when something happens. Pets radical movement kind of accident. Thing also tells me I’m not wearing my seat belt. And it plugs me if I’m “distracted” every time it sees my eyes look away from the windshield for a second.
So I’m wondering how does it work? Does the camera have some kind of cell phone recognition so it knows if I look at my phone? Does it record that as an event? Do my superiors get a notification every time it says that I’m distracted? My job has always had a no cell phone policy, that they are trying to be strict about enforcing lately. So this could be a problem for me.
When my bosses log on to the app or website or whatever to review footage, are they only able to see recorded events? Or could they pull up a live feed?
I spend a lot of hours working nights and weekends driving around in empty parking lot now talking to myself or picking my nose or singing to the radio or whatever other embarrassing thing you can imagine. How much of that are they seeing now?
