So for context he’s been out on the road for almost two months maybe being out too long got to him. This past Sunday he was backing in the rain and some guy was yelling at him and he was all over the place, he hit the guy’s mirror. The next day (yesterday) he dropped a loaded trailer in a door. (He at first told me it was a empty). He’s been driving for over six months no incidents and no accidents until these past two days. He’s feeling pretty depressed and right now and wants to leave the trucking industry. He said he got out his truck like three or four times to check the fifth wheel and even did a tug test. He even lowered the trailer because it was too high at first.
Another friend of mine said that sometimes the kingpin can go over the locking jaw? (Not sure how to explain this) and it can feel like the trailer is hooked during a tug test but it isn’t. (I think you’d see that though visually, and isn’t that called a high hook?)
He thinks no one will hire him and he’s basically out of a job in the trucking industry but I don’t think that’s the case completely. He’s 22 and it’s his livelihood right now and he’s also waiting for his company to tell him if he’s fired or not but I’m pretty sure they’re gonna let him go unfortunately .. they’re a mega carrier. I’m pretty sure my company won’t take him because they’re also a mega carrier but I said he should apply nonetheless. I said I’d help him look online and ask around. Do you guys know any companies that would take someone who dropped a trailer?
**update they fired him guys!
