Military Guy Want/Need CDL

I’m currently active duty (14yrs in) and looking at getting me CDL. I will only be hauling person items (my cars, tired of paying to have them shipped every 3-4 yrs back and forth across country). I am a Texas resident and have a Texas drivers license. Currently stationed in DC but live in Va, and would prefer to keep my Texas license or at least my Texas residency. Has anyone done this, and can point me in the right direction. I will try to call Texas DPS again, and hope to get a real person to ask question but in the mean time, I figured I’d ask here.

All help is appreciated.
