4th day of CDL road training and first time driving at night. The road was quite mountainous. I know the jokes are going to fly but I found myself literally unable to determine if I was going up or down a hill. I had to eyeball the speedo to see if I was gaining or decreasing speed to know if I was in an up or down attitude. I’ve been driving for 25 years, cars, bikes, pulled campers with trucks, etc. I never experienced anything like this.
Did any of you have this experience when you started driving a semi? I’m at a complete loss trying to make sense of how my brain has suddenly failed to register if I’m traveling up or down a hill.
