What kind of things should I expect first time? I’ve done some otr but I’ve primarily done construction driving. I currently drive a Mac or an international and go to and from hydrants to fill up my 5000 gallon tank. Because we’re mainly on closed off job sites and because I sit a lot, our water trucks don’t run any logs. Our cement tankers who bring us powder from plants do, but are logs required in the oilfields?
Ive worked other forms of construction other than road stabilization. I was a pipe layer for a few years and I’m used to working 60-90 hour weeks depending on the weather, so if allowed I’m perfectly fine with 12-14 hour days 7 days a week, but how do I find a place that’ll let me drive that much?
I’d be looking at going to Texas or north Dakota, but I’d be coming from Tennessee, so I’d like to make it worth the travel and try to stay out for something like 4 weeks on and one off, but is that realistic? I’ve seen a bunch of YouTube shorts and tiktoks where people say they’re making 4k a week hauling water. Even if that’s before taxes that’s still way better than what I’m making where I’m currently driving, but is that o/o pay or is that people who are driving 7 days a week?
