Howdy y’all! So I’ve just passed up my 1 year back in the middle of November, and as the days keep rolling on I’ve learned that the company that I’m at is not a good fit for me, especially long term.
The management (despite one of said managers being a prior driver) refuses to have any kinda empathy or understanding for things that really should be common sense, like not scheduling loads when you haven’t had the opportunity to take your 10 hour; expecting immediate and forthright communication about the typical day to day trucker bullshit but not getting back with you for hours on end when you escalate a concern; getting popped 4 times in the last 3 months for a ‘random’ drug test (I haven’t touched any kinda substance in years, I think they’re just fishing for reasons to let me go)…
All this to ask, for those of you willing to vouch for your current or a previous gig, what companies should I start doing research on? I want somewhere that treats me like a human, not a machine. Squeaky clean MVR, no failed inspections, willing to run 55+ hours a week so long as the pay & time home makes sense too. I’m looking into UPS & FedEx currently, but I’m open to hearing out what companies treat their drivers with some human decency.
Edit: to clarify, I’m in Northeast Ohio & am doing my due diligence on job boards. Open to relocating too, especially if a company has some kinda policy to assist in that venture.
