is OTR trucking worth getting into?

Hello all I am currently trying to figure out what I want to do with my life trucking is something I’ve considered for awhile and I’m planning on either otr trucking or going to welding school. I like the idea of being able to be on the road as much as I want if the work is there and currently living with family being able to work and not worry about where I’m staying while working is a bonus.

Another question I have is there is a trucking school near me is it better to go thru them or find a company to pay and if I do the school will I have to be a student driver after?
