If you have a truck that has any of the following features:
*Engine idle shutoff below a certian temp
*Ambient outside temperature monitoring
*Engine autostart control
*Peterbilt 2023
Then this advice may help you!
Step 1. To start you need to be aware of the
temperature of the trucks idle shut-off and the location of the ambient outside temperature sensor
Step 2. Make sure the truck is parked for the night (truck air breaks are engaged and truck is in neutral)
Step 3. Using a heat source (i.e your hand) heat the temperature sensor to 75-80 degrees. The temperature may vary depending on the settings set by your company. It could even go as high as 100° depends are how much of an ass your company is.
Step 4. Enjoy the truck no longer turning off for that parked session no matter how low the temp goes. If you move the truck or disengage the airbreaks you will have to restart this process.
What you did was tell the truck, “its hot outside and im going to sleep. I dont expect it to get cold so im not gonna use the autostart.” The truck sensing this wont turn off because if you went to sleep expecting the truck to stay on and it turns off the batteries drain and you wake up to a dead truck and noone likes that. If this works for you i’m glad. It worked for me
