I was fired from a good company over some literal bullshit. I couldn’t wait around for other companies to get back to me so I had to go back to jb hunt. I finished a 2 day orientation today and I start my training tomorrow. It’s gonna be 2 week training for a intermodal account. The recruiter said the average is $1600 gross. As soon as they told us the pay scale all of us in there knew that’s not gonna happen.
I just feel stressed out, tired, and frustrated with where I’m at right now and what my options are now that I have being fired on my dac report. I did my year at a mega, I did what I had to do to get ahead and now I’m right back where I started. Things can change so quickly. I was at this orientation, listening to these people that have been there for 25 years talk about how it’s a great company and the money is good and the benefits are great, and the 401k is great, and I’m proud to be here, and we have a fuel tank IN THIS YARD!, and you have so much potential for growth, and what you make is up to you and your work ethic, and don’t quit again my guy it’s amazing here. My god, i felt so irritated listening to these people say these things. Good thing I was wearing a mask cuz they’d see the expression on my face.
At one point the guy conducting the orientation said the economy is down and the freight has slowed but HERE AT JB HUNT WE KEEP OUR DRIVERS ON THE ROAD!!! We’re still hiring drivers he said. Yea your hiring drivers because this is a fucking revolving door. People come here for experience or because they have no ambition.
Sorry if I sound a little pessimistic, I just hate that Iv been driving for 1.5 years and I’m still here. These next few months are gonna be hard to deal with. Getting paid by the mile is the worst thing to have to put up with as a truck driver.
