So I have a trucking problem that I’m wondering if some of you more knowledgeable people might be able to help me come up with a solution for. So I got fired from my trucking job in July because of an incident I’d had earlier in the month. I was driving down the interstate about 10 miles my park location (it was the pilot in Remington and the only other parking after I knew needed to stop was the closed Roselawn rest area) when the truck drifted off the road which I had not at all been trained on how to handle so I did what I thought would best safely get the truck back on the road which was to let the truck do what it wanted at first then lightly steer back in the direction of the road which caused no damage to the truck other than a lost hub oil seal. There was no impediment to other drivers nor did the truck need to be towed out (I just drove it out with my driving skills and the speed of the truck) but because the truck went off the road I got fired for it (one of those companies with roll stability sensors in case you were wondering how they knew) and now here I am over 2 months later still trying to get a new job because nobody will put me in a truck due to one single incident I had that I’d never had before and would likely never have again. Anybody have any ideas on what I might be able to do to get back in a truck again? I only have 5 months of over the road experience and no over the road training because I only spent 3 and 2 half days with my trainer who was a dedicated pony driver which isn’t helpful training for an otr driver.
p.s. I don’t tell this much to recruiters I’m just trying to avoid stupid questions.
