Mild little rant here. Disp for a mom & pop carrier. I work with a driver who must have been ridiculed most of his life. I’m sure you can imagine why. Adding to his namesake, he is a bit of a dick sometimes. But that’s not the rant:
Mr. Johnson blew a trlr tire today. We go through Michelin on-call for roadsides. So I placed a call on his behalf. The dispatcher had a chuckle at his name, then took his info and said “Sure. We’ll get him taken care of. He didn’t sound too convincing, and shortly after the call, I noticed he didn’t give me a reference number. Other issues came up and a couple hours go by. Before I finally remember to call back for the reference number, Mr. Johnson is back on the phone again asking for an ETA. I call Michelin back.
It wasn’t easy getting the service recalled when I got through again, so they asked in the office who’d set up a call for my company / that location. They found the dispatcher who took my call.
“Oh… You were serious? I thought you were just pranking me. You know, because of the, umm ‘Hairy Johnson… LOL.”
I had a few words with him, then gave him the driver’s number so they could speak with him and let him have an earfull as well. Because, yeah, Mr. Johnson is known for his patience and understanding.
Anyways, yeah long story short; they thought because I’d called for a “Harry Johnson” I was fucking with them. Drive safe!
