A couple of days ago my trainer and I picked up a loaded trailer. He was driving and on duty at the time. He noticed that when he did his pretrip on the trailer there were two flat tires. During his pretrip he didn’t list that there were two flat tires. He submitted it like nothing was wrong. Instead of doing that and calling breakdown he drove a mile away and parked at a hotel. Once we got there he called breakdown and said that he was gonna wake up early the next morning and it take it to our yard to get them replaced. We got them fixed and on our way to our next delivery. After checking our next loads I see that we are rerouted back to our main terminal. He’s freaking out because he’s thinking that safety is gonna talk to him or perhaps fire him. My question is this: is this a fireable offense? I’m on day 21 of 30 of my training. He realizes now that he should of put it in his pretrip or post trip that two tires were flat. If it was me I would of submitted the damages and then tell breakdown right away. Thanks.
