I’m still very new to trucking and I’d like to hear from others what they think. My company gives us fuel cards for a specific truck stop chain. Most of the ones I use have about 8 diesel lanes. Usually 2 of those 8 are out of service at any given time, an another 1 or 2 have broken keypads on the pumps. Given a choice, I will pull in behind a truck that looks like it is getting successfully fueled, or has a truck pulled through after appearing to get fuel. I try not to pull into an empty pump with no sign of activity as I hate having to circle around because it isn’t working. How do you folks handle this? Do you just pull up to the first open lane every time?
