Heading westbound on i68 tonight, DOT sign posted that an accident happened at mm 9 in WV, right after the mandatory brake check station.
I pulled into the station, took a short walk around truck and break, and go to get on the interstate. The thought occurs to me to turn on the CB and fiddle with it before getting back on road. New company, new truck, haven’t turned it on yet. Literally the first truck coming up the hill Eastbound comes across with a warning that traffic is at a stand still right around the corner. (2 and a half miles before dot warning).
Throw on flashers, thank driver, start slowing down. All the 4 wheelers around me start slowing down too. We round the corner and I realize that if I didn’t slow when I did, the driver to my left wouldn’t have- and they likely wouldn’t be getting home tonight.
Just wanted to shout-out to the eastbound driver, you saved the 4 wheelers life. And a reminder to us tenured drivers and a warning to new drivers to turn the damn thing on.
