So I was looking around for the best approach and just called Stevens Transport to see if my short time here would be an issue and they told me to wait 6 months and contact them again.
My initial plan was to find a place that offers to pay for the training and then hire but now it seems that might be out of the question unless I wait.
I’ve been working ever since I got my permit and even did volunteer work before that while I waited to be allowed to job hunt. I’m a green card holder and I was working back in Denmark up until I moved here. I’ve been driving standard cars for 14 years. And vans for work in Denmark for 3 years and over here for a month. I’m a hard worker and learn fast. I enjoy working weekends and I don’t mind being away for days or weeks even (though I do have an old small dog I’d appreciate being able to bring with me)
I just haven’t been here or had my drivers license for long enough, it seems.
What’s the best approach for me? Do I really have to wait? I currently have an Amazon DSP job that I actually enjoy, but I don’t feel good staying since they’ve been deceitful from the get go. This is why I’m looking to just do what I’ve been wanting to do for years. Trucking.
Any advice?
