Welp I just got my first ticket in 7years, first with a CDL. I was driving on the back roads in OH and came to a road closed sign. Couldn’t go left or right because it was marked no trucks. Like a dumb ass I tried to go down the closed road because it didn’t look closed and I could see the turn I needed to make (yes I know absolute dumbass move, just not thinking straight today).
Well the road was blocked in a way that I couldn’t see it so I started backing out when the cop came up. He gave me a ticket for Failure to Obey Traffic Control Devices instead of something more serious. He said it’s basically carries the same weight as if he was giving me a ticket for running a stop sign.
I’m assuming that I need to notify my company but what im more concerned about is how much will this affect me when looking for other jobs? I’ve been CDL driving for 5 but this is only my 7th month as a Class A driver and I was looking into moving to a better paying company soon.
