My husband’s semi truck has been having issues with the starter. We just put a $3,000 transmission in it about a month and a half ago. Well, 2 nights ago at about 1:30 am we were in the bed and we heard a loud boom that shook the house. We jumped up and went to the front door and saw the semi truck completely engulfed in an inferno of flames. He called the fire department and it took them a good 30 minutes to put it out. Needless to say, the truck is a complete loss.
He has a $60,000 physical insurance policy through the company he is leased onto, as he is an owner/operator. He called the insurance the next day to file the claim and when he simply asked how this worked, the adjuster just simply told him once they got all the information they need to send out a check, they would do so. She said that they would typically see how much the truck is worth and send out that amount in a check.
We don’t understand why, if he is paying extra every week for the policy he has, which he selected so if something were to happen, heaven forbid, he could not only pay the truck off, but possibly get another truck or whatever but why they are trying to only give him the bare minimum which won’t pay the truck off.
Can someone explain this to us? I have scoured the web trying to find answers and there is literally nothing to answer these questions.
